Worship Ministry Committee Mission is "to provide worship services that will allow people to have a meaningful worship experience and to grow in Christ."
Worship Ministry Committee Responsibilities:
ŸAll committee members and subcommittee members need to commit to praying, worshipping, reading scripture, serving at and beyond the church, and giving. We must be familiar with liturgical traditions and changes in order to meet the needs of the Lands congregation. The Worship Ministry Committee will meet monthly. All Worship Ministry committee and subcommittee meetings will start with prayer and end with prayer.
ŸWork closely with the Pastor for any special worship requests. Also provide "worship coordinators". This includes, but is not limited to, the Saturday service, Arise to Praise, 10:30, summer park and Lent worship services at Lands. The duties of the worship coordinators will be:
1. Provide support and feedback to the Pastor showing concern for his/her well being and needs as they prepare and lead worship, especially when there is a supply Pastor, (all services)
2. Ensure that the song numbers appear on the board (all services)
3. Ensure the acolytes are attending to their duties (all services)
4. Light the candles as appropriate when there are no acolytes scheduled
5. Ensure ushers have arrived and know about any special instructions for the service (all services)
6. Ensure communion is setup and servers are available (all services)
7. Ensure communion is cleaned up (all services)
8. Prepare for and assist with baptism as needed (all services)
9. Ensure the lector is ready for reading (all services)
ŸCoordinate with the Pastor the acolyte training and schedule. Ensure the acolyte supplies are working and stocked (including alter candle oils are full).
ŸCoordinate the subcommittee that creates/purchases and cares for the banners/paraments as needed. This includes setting up the alter with the banners/paraments for the church seasons.
ŸCoordinate the subcommittee(s) for all aspects of music for all of the worship services at Lands. (These sub committees are responsible that copyright laws are followed, copyright licenses are up-to-date and special music is planned and arranged and all songs and music are coordinated in advance for all the worship services at Lands. These music planning subcommittees also need to coordinate with the Choir Director and organ/piano/instrument players and singers. These music planning subcommittees also need to coordinate piano/organ/keyboard tuning and repairs. This also includes any special music needed and preparing summer park worship hymn folders).
ŸArrange and plan for meaningful worship services in the event that the Pastor is gone. This can be done by a supply Pastor or with laity.
ŸCoordinate the subcommittee to recruit Lectors for all services and also train the 6th graders for lecturing.
ŸProvide Worship service recommendations to the Pastor and council. Keep the congregation informed of worship and planning opportunities.
ŸCoordinate the subcommittee that assists the Pastor with communion setup/cleanup and helping to serve communion, including to the homebound as requested by the Pastor, and ensuring communion supplies are inventoried and stocked.
ŸCoordinate the subcommittee of ushers - Usher subcommittee leader is one of the Council at Large persons
1. counting and recording attendance
2. handing out bulletins and pew Bibles and hymnals
3. assisting with seating
4. making the pastor aware of those requesting communion to be served in the pew
5. collecting the pew pads and turning them in to the office
6. straightening/cleaning pews after services
ŸCoordinate tape ministry, ie... tape the 10:30 service and duplicate tapes to send to shut-ins.
ŸCoordinate decorating the sanctuary for the holidays. This includes ordering flowers for Easter.
ŸManage the Worship budget and give budget recommendations to the council. This would include annually reviewing the Memorials List and giving input of items that would enhance the worship setting.
